How to Repair Fleece on a Saddle

Most saddles have fleece on them to protect the horse from getting saddle sores. Sometimes, this fleece can get damaged from wear and tear. While you will want to replace the entire piece of fleece eventually, you can do a patch job in the meantime to extend the life of the saddle fleece a little longer.

Instructions

Locate the damaged areas of the fleece. Cut away and clean up the rough areas of the damaged fleece. Lift up the damaged sections so you can slip your finger slightly under the fleece attached to the saddle.

    • 2

Cut patches and replacement sections from a sheet of new fleece that are slightly larger than the damaged areas and holes. Slip the patches into the damaged area or hole so it sits under the original fleece.

    • 3

Lift up the original fleece around the damaged area and apply glue to the patch. Press the original fleece down on the patch and hold for a few seconds. Allow the glue to completely dry overnight.
