Go to any used horse trailer sales website.
Run a search on that website for trailers similar to yours near your location.
Write down the prices of the trailers you find. Note any differences in condition from your own trailer.
Go to another used horse trailer sales website.
Repeat steps two and three.
Visit a local trailer dealership that has your brand of trailer. If possible, take your trailer with you and have them give you an estimated value. If you cannot take the trailer with you, simply ask about the year, make, model and approximate condition of the trailer. The dealership should be able to give you a roughly estimated value.
Determine the value of your horse trailer based upon the data you have collected. Take into account the condition of your trailer compared to the others, as well as any other differences, such as in age, size or style. For example, a three-horse will be worth more than a two-horse, and a stock trailer with Plexiglas paneling will be worth more than one that is open. Also, take into account any improvements you have made to your trailer. Such things as new tires, flooring and feed mangers will add value to your trailer.
How to Find Out the Value of a Horse Trailer
It is important to know the value of your horse trailer for both insurance and sales purposes. However, because there is no Kelly Blue Book for horse trailers, determining the value of your horse trailer requires some preparation and research. The value of a specific horse trailer can vary widely by location and from year to year, so you will need to do research on what is current for your area.
