How to Wash the Exterior of an Aluminum Horse Trailer

Washing the exterior your horse trailer after each use is important to maintain both the looks and integrity of your aluminum trailer. Not only will washing the exterior of your aluminum horse trailer keep it looking nice, it will also allow you to thoroughly check for cracks, leaks, rust, or other damage, and remove any dirt or grime which may damage the exterior of your trailer over time.

  • Power washer
  • Bucket
  • Cotton rags
  • Car washing liquid

Instructions

      Power wash the exterior of your trailer. Work your way from the top of the trailer to the bottom.

      Pour a small amount of car washing liquid into the bottom of the bucket. If you don't have access to car washing liquid, a mild dish soap may also be used.

      Fill the bucket to the top with water.

      Scrub the trailer using a cotton rag soaked in the soapy mixture in your bucket. Be sure to loosen all spots of dirt and grime. Now is also a good time to make note of any rust or damage on the exterior of your trailer, so pay close attention as you are scrubbing.

      Power wash the trailer from top to bottom again, removing all soap and dirt.
