How to Attach Rhinestones to Horse Equipment

Decorating your horse equipment with rhinestones can be a fun way to add a touch of glamour and a more affordable way to get that "blinged out" look so popular in the show ring. Attaching rhinestones to horse equipment isn't as easy as it sounds because it is impossible to attach heat-fix or glue-on rhinestones to leather. With the appropriate equipment, however, you can add your own rhinestone designs to any piece of equipment in your tack room.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark your design on the frontside of the piece of horse equipment, using the chalk. Mark where each individual rhinestone will go.

    • 2

Place the die into the foot or hand press. Choose the die appropriate to both the size and setting of the rhinestones you are using.

    • 3

Place a rim setting into the bottom die of the press, prongs facing up.

    • 4

Place a rhinestone on top of the rim setting you placed in step three. The rhinestone should be facing down.

    • 5

Line the prongs up with a chalk mark on your piece of horse equipment. The piece of horse equipment should be face down.

    • 6

Pull the lever on your press to attach the rim setting and rhinestone to the piece of horse equipment.

    • 7

Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 and 6 until your design is complete.
