How to Assemble the Girth of an Ultimate Circle Y Saddle

Circle Y saddles are a favorite brand with both horse show competitors and casual riders, but no matter what you use your Ultimate Circle Y for, you need to make sure the girth is secured and properly attached. If the girth is not secure, your saddle will not fit the horse properly, and it could even slip off while you are riding. Taking the time to learn how to properly attach and adjust the girth is important, as is checking the girth for wear and other problems before every ride.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Ultimate Circle Y saddle on a secure saddle stand. Face the saddle, with the saddle horn facing you.

    • 2

Walk around to the left side of the saddle and flip the stirrup up over the saddle seat. This will give you room to work and make it easier to find the girth rigging.

    • 3

Locate the strap hanging down under where the stirrup normally hangs. This strap is attached to a large metal ring.

    • 4

Run that strap through the ring on the girth, then run the prong on the girth through one of the holes in the strap. The rigging strap for the girth has several holes to make it easier to get a secure fit on different sized horses.

    • 5

Place the saddle on your horse if you can. Reach underneath the horse's belly and grab the girth. Pull the girth toward you and run it through the cinch. The girth should be long enough so that you can see it on the near side of the horse. If it is not, adjust the rigging on the other side to make the girth longer.
