How to Recycle Aluminum Horse Shoes
Although specialized horseshoes may use additional materials, the vast majority of horseshoes are aluminum. Because most horses should have their feet trimmed and will have shoes reapplied every four to six weeks, many aluminum horseshoes are left in the barn as trash. Although horseshoes can be given away for "luck" or used to decorate, the vast majority collect dust in a bin or bucket somewhere in the barn. Because aluminum is a metal, it is possible to turn in aluminum horseshoes to be recycled, limiting the amount that sit in the barn and earning a little bit of monetary return as well.
