Instructions

  1. English Saddle

    • 1

Place the saddle on a sturdy saddle stand. It is always easier to measure the seat with the saddle sitting on a firm surface.

    • 2

Locate the small silver circle near the front of the saddle. There is one of these circles on both sides of the saddle--you can use either one to begin the measuring.

    • 3

Place the end of the measuring tape over the silver circle, then extend it to the back of the seat. Note the measurement on the tape--this is the size of the saddle seat.

    Western Saddle

    • 4

Sit the saddle on a sturdy saddle stand. It can be difficult to measure the seat accurately if it is not on a solid stand.

    • 5

Place the measuring tape just behind the saddle horn. Extend the tape measure to the back of the cantle. The cantle is the back of the saddle seat.

    • 6

Note the reading on the tape measure. This is the seat size of the saddle.
