How to Measure a Trooper Saddle Seat

The Trooper saddle is a popular choice for trail riding, endurance and other equine sports. These saddles are known for their durability, and their light weight makes them a good choice for long-distance rides as well as pleasure trail rides and even showing. But as with any type of saddle, fit is everything when it comes to the Trooper saddle, and riders need to make sure they get the right size. Riders often find they need a slightly smaller size seat in a Trooper than what they are used to. For instance, a 16 1/2-inch Trooper is appropriate for riders weighing between 150 and 190 pounds.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Trooper saddle on a sturdy saddle stand. It is always easier to measure a saddle seat when the saddle is sitting on a stable surface.

    • 2

Place the tape measure at the back of the cutback area of the seat. Be sure the tape measure is placed firmly against this area.

    • 3

Extend the tape measure to the back of the seat seam and take the measurement. This is the seat size of the Trooper saddle.
