Things You'll Need
- Shovel
- Manure spreader
- Wheelbarrow
Instructions
Establish a set spot to store your horse manure. Ideally, the area you choose should be well away from the home, the barn and other structures.
Clean the stall and dump the manure on a regular basis. Dump the manure on to the pile you have established. As heat builds up in the pile the horse manure will age and become richer in nutrients. You can hurry this process along by covering the pile with black plastic to generate more heat or by introducing a colony of earthworms to speed the transformation from manure to rich compost.
Attach a manure spreader to your farm or garden tractor. Drive the tractor over to your established manure pile and shovel the aged manure into the spreader. Run the spreader through your pasture to spread the fertilizer on the grass and give it the nourishment it needs to thrive.
Spread a thin layer of horse manure in your garden to give you plants extra nutrients. Make the layer thin enough so that young plants and seedlings will not have any trouble breaking through.
