Things You'll Need
- Halter
- Bridle
- Halter bridle combination
Instructions
Put a bridle on top of the halter when you are going to take the horse on long trail rides. This makes it easy to remove the bridle on top, give the horse a break, and tie the horse safely. Make sure the halter fits properly and isn't too loose or it will affect how the bridle is worn. Double check that the bridle still fits properly and adjust it accordingly -- it may need to be loosened slightly to accommodate the halter underneath.
Hook a halter on top of the bridle when you need to tie your horse while it is in full gear. Use a halter that is slightly bigger than the bridle and fit it on top. This works well if you need to tie your horse between exercises or at a show. You don't need to take off all of the gear to tie it but the horse is still tied safely with a halter.
Use a halter bridle combination on long-distance trips or for convenience. These combos look like a halter and bridle stitched together. They come in leather and synthetic materials. Put the combo on as usual and either clip a bit onto it or use it as a halter. It works particularly well in endurance or overnight trips when you need to tie your horse overnight or frequently give it breaks.
