How to Repair Horse Trailer Dents

Horse trailers are often made of aluminum to make them lighter. Unfortunately, although this might make things easier on your truck, when your horses kick the trailer's sides or you ding it with your truck when hitching it, this means that the trailer will dent more easily. It's hard to justify spending the money to remove dents when you know they are bound to reoccur, so the next time you have a dent in your horse trailer, try this dent removal trick used in auto body repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the hair dryer into an electrical outlet so that it is within easy reach of the dent. Make sure that the air duster, like one used to clean computers, is close at hand.

    • 2

Switch the hair dryer on to the highest heat setting, and position it so that it is almost touching the dent. Slowly move the hair dryer back and forth around the entire dent for one minute, heating the surface. Turn off the hair dryer.

    • 3

Quickly turn the air duster upside down, which will make it release liquid carbon dioxide. Spray the dent on the horse trailer with liquid carbon dioxide for 30 seconds.

    • 4

Watch as the difference in the temperature between the heated metal of the horse trailer and the liquid carbon dioxide causes the dent to pop out.

    • 5

Wipe off any remaining liquid carbon dioxide from the horse trailer with a clean, damp cloth.
