How to Measure the Seat Size of a Treeless Saddle

No matter what style of riding you prefer or what type of horse you own, you need to make sure your tack fits both your body and your animal's. An ill-fitting saddle will cause your horse to become sore and irritable, and it will cause your body to become stiff and sore as well. Treeless saddles are designed to be comfortable for both horse and rider, but getting the proper size is still essential. Measure the seat size of your treeless saddle to be certain that it will fit perfectly.

Instructions

  1. Measuring the English Treeless Saddle

    • 1

Place the saddle on a sturdy stand. It is easier to get an accurate measurement if the saddle is sitting on a stable surface.

    • 2

Locate the round silver button at the front of the saddle. The saddle has two of these buttons, one on each side. You can use either one to start the measurement.

    • 3

Place the tape measure on the button, then extend the tape to the back of the seat. The reading on the tape is the size of the saddle seat.

    Measuring the Western Treeless Saddle

    • 4

Place the saddle on a saddle stand or saddle rack. It is easier to get an accurate measurement from a solid surface.

    • 5

Place the tape measure at the back of the saddle horn.

    • 6

Extend the tape measure to the back of the seat. The reading on the tape is the size of the Western saddle seat.
