How to Get Rid of Static Cling in Horse Blankets

Static cling can be a real pain. It can bunch up your horse blankets and cause them to stick to themselves. That makes extra work for you to straighten them out and make them look good. Static cling can also cause static electricity. This can cause you or your horse to receive a shock. You may know why you are getting shocked, but your horse won't.

Begin using dryer sheets. This will eliminate the static cling. You can use any type of dryer sheet, but you may want to switch to dryer sheets that are made for sensitive skin if the dryer sheet begins to bother your horse. Just place one dryer sheet in the dryer with the horse blanket. If you air dry your blanket, you can wipe the blanket down by hand with a dryer sheet.

Place one tablespoon of liquid fabric softener in your empty spray bottle and fill it up the rest of the way with water. Spray on your horse blanket and let dry for five minutes. You can also use a capful of liquid fabric softener in your washing machine if you don't want to spray your blankets afterward.

Blow dry your blanket with an ionic hair dryer. This will eliminate the static. You don't have to blow dry a wet blanket. You can use the blow dryer on a dry blanket and you will get the same effect. Just make sure you blow dry both sides for at least five minutes.

Place an anti-static dryer ball in the dryer with your horse blanket. These balls are created to get rid of static, so they are a perfect option to use to get the static out of your horse blanket. You can find these balls in your grocery store.

Switch to using horse blankets made out of natural fabrics verses synthetic fabrics. Natural fabrics don't produce nearly as much static as synthetic fabrics.

Start using a humidifier in the room where you store your horse blankets. The drier the room, the more likely you are to experience static cling. This is why static cling is much more prevalent during the winter months. A humidifier will help fix your static cling problem.
