Grooming
-
Grooming is a natural activity that herd members will do to one another when there are not humans doing it for them. Spend a little extra time grooming your horse will help you find his favorite spots to be scratched and rubbed. Grooming can help strengthen your bond with your horse as well as make his coat look healthier.
Bake Horse Treats
-
Bake some all-natural horse treats using oats and molasses. Safe and healthy recipes (see Resources) allow you to make your horse a special treat he'll be sure to enjoy. Also, home-made treats packaged in baggies or tins make good presents for your horse barn friends.
Art Projects
-
Make your horse a model by drawing or sketching him. It may take a couple of attempts before you get the picture right, but you can create a fun piece of art for your home by drawing or painting a picture of your horse. If you're not an artist, take digital photographs of your horse and modify them with photo editing software to create a more artistic appearance.
Go on a Trail Ride
-
Trail rides are often low-stress alternatives to busy riding and training schedules. Take the time to take your horse on a trail ride. Invite your friends and bring a picnic lunch to share while your out on the trails.
