Horseback Riding Cabins in North Carolina

If you own a horse and want a change of scenery for riding excursions, take your horse with you to North Carolina. The resort also offers horse rentals and guided tours. The cabin at Sugar Cove is a converted farmhouse that can sleep up to eight people, and it includes a kitchen area, living room and back deck.

    Fontana Village Resort

    • Fontana Village is a resort that rests on the shores of Fontana Lake in the Great Smoky Mountains. This resort is home to the Fontana Village Stables, where horse owners can lodge their horses during their stay. Rental horses and guided tours are offered to beginning horseback riders. Guests must be at least 6 years of age to ride on a horse. One and two-hour guided tours are offered. The resort offers one, two and three-bedroom log cabins. Each of the cabins have a fully furnished kitchen and living room, while some of the cabins have whirlpool tubs and king-sized beds.

    • Situated near the northern North Carolina town of Ferguson, Leatherwood Mountains is a resort that is nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This resort provides an equestrian center with 60 stalls for travelers who bring their own horses. A round pen and show arena are also located on the resort's premises. Guided tours are offered that travel throughout the resort's extensive network of trails. The amount of bedrooms per cabin at Leatherwood are one to four. Some of the cabins have loft areas that can be used as an extra bedroom. Each cabin has a fully furnished kitchen, back decks, bathrooms and living rooms.

    Cataloochee Ranch

    • Cataloochee Ranch, situated in the Great Smoky Mountains, is less than 20 minutes from Maggie Valley's town center, and the ranch provides horseback riding on the trails throughout the resort's property. Some of the trails include Hemphill Bald, which travels through open fields, and Brer Rabbit, a trail that goes into more forested areas of the resort. Horse rentals and guided tours are provided. The resort offers "Ranch Cabins," which consist of smaller units near the center of the resort, and "Cabins on the Ridge." These accommodations offer a more secluded setting in the resort's property.
