How to Locate Thoroughbreds

Thoroughbreds represent the horse-racing industry. The Jockey Club registers approximately 35,000 foals each year, most of which retire at an early age. Ex-Thoroughbred racehorses make excellent, inexpensive prospects for horse buyers. The CANTER organization gives you the opportunity to locate and purchase inexpensive Thoroughbreds. Its horses are acquired directly from the track, or are donated or sold by trainers. Horses adopted through CANTER must go to non-racing homes. The Pedigree Online Thoroughbred Database is the largest online database of thoroughbred pedigrees. It includes more than 1.2 million horses from around the world and is updated daily.
