Places to Board Horses near Plainfield, New Jersey

Plainfield is a culturally diverse farm community in New Jersey. If you own a horse and are planning to go away, or need training, boarding, and help housing your horse, you may consider a boarding facility in the area. Although as of 2010 no facilities sit within the city limits of Plainfield, several are within a short drive.

    • Nine miles from Plainfield, NJ, is Tolleshunt Horse Farm (tolleshunt.com). Tolleshunt Farm provides three levels of boarding for horses whose owners who commit to the farm's training, lesson or sales programs. They take care of dental, de-worming, farrier and veterinary services. They also provide nightly checks, blanketing, feeding, watering and supplements.

    Hidden Brook Farm

    • Hidden Brook Farm (hiddenbrookfarm.com) -- off the I-287, and 2 miles from I-78 in Bedminister, New Jersey -- has 50 acres of land and wooded trails to ride. Horse stalls are inside three barns, depending on the reason for boarding. Boarding includes stall cleaning daily, day turnout during the winter months and night turnouts in the summer months. Fresh water, feed and hay are provided daily. All barns have a fly spray system, in all stalls as well as the aisles. Each stall includes its own ceiling fan during the warmer months.

    Long Meadow Farm

    • Long Meadow Farm (longmeadowfarm.net) is not a full-service boarding facility. They are the farthest boarding facility from Plainfield, approximately 12 miles outside the city limit. Horses are fed and watered daily. The 12-by-12-feet stalls are cleaned once per day. If there is snow on the ground they will provide hay in the stalls. Horses are let out to run as much as possible. Long Meadow Farm also has a child enrichment program, along with riding lessons and horse training.
