Things You'll Need
- Putty knife
- Rag
- Silicone caulk
- Caulking gun
- Utility knife
- Plastic spatula
Instructions
Scrape the seams of the horse trailer with the putty knife. Push the putty knife under the old caulk. Gently move the putty knife back and forth to remove the old caulk. Scrape around the window and vent openings.
Wipe away any excess debris from the seams of the horse trailer with the rag. The surface must be clean before you apply the new caulk.
Place the silicone caulk in the caulking gun. Cut the tip off the end of the tube of caulk with the utility knife.
Pull the handle on the caulking gun gently to release a small bead of caulk. Run a line of caulk along the seams of the horse trailer. Caulk around the windows and vent seams.
Slide the plastic spatula along the trailer seams to remove any excess caulk. This will smooth out the caulk along the seams.
Place a small amount of caulk on the rivets on the horse trailer. The rivets can loosen over time and allow water to leak in.
