How to Measure Stall Drapes

Horse owners utilize stall drapes as ornamental displays at horse shows and as personal showcases for a horse. The drapes attach to the show stall awnings and either close or tie open according to the horse owner's personal preferences. Drapes can act as a way to close off a horse's enclosure space or as a decorative touch to the walls of a portable horse stall.

Determine the area for the drapes. The area will depend on personal preferences and the type of show stall. If the show stall is compete with awnings and walls, the drapes usually are limited to one or two locations, such as the doorway to the stall. If the show stall is only an awning without any valances or paneling for walls, the drapes enclose the entire space.

Measure the length of the awning. The drape length is determined by the stall awning. The awning is the overhead or roof portion of the show stall. Measure the opening around panels or measure all of the sides of the awning, depending on the type of stall and the available openings.

Measure the height of the awning. Heights are typically about 7 feet tall. Measure the height to double check. The width or height of the stall drapes measurement equals the awning height. The length of the stall drapes measurement equals the open spaces in the show stall. For example, if the opening is 10 feet in length and 7 feet tall, the appropriate measurements for the stall drape would be 10 feet by 7 feet.
