Instructions
Repairing blanket straps
Wash and dry the blanket, as it will be much easier to remove the old straps and attach new ones if you are not trying to work around manure that has become attached to them. You probably will need to use the large commercial machines at a laundromat instead of your family washer if the blanket is a heavy one. If the weather is good, dry the blanket on a clothesline or fence. Be careful of drying it in a machine as the heat often will ruin any weatherproofing the blanket may have.
Remove the old strap using either the seam ripper or razor blade to cut through the old stitching.
Remove any of the old strap's hardware for reuse.
Cut the nylon webbing to the length of the old strap and attach any hardware removed from the previous strap. If holes are needed in the new strap, heat the ice pick and push it through the nylon webbing in the desired locations.
Reattach the strap to the blanket using the carpet needle and heavy thread or dental floss to sew it into place.
