Things You'll Need
- 2 sheets of heavy sheet metal
- Measuring tape
- Welding torch
- Hinges
- Bolts
Instructions
Measure the size of the opening to the horse trailer door. The sheets of metal need to be about 1/2 inch shorter than the width of the door.
Weld the two pieces of sheet metal together with a torch to create a thick and sturdy platform that can withstand the weight of horses. Add some traction to the surface welded sheet metal by passing the torch over the metal in a few parallel and then crisscrossed lines. This will help to make the metal less slippery for you and for the horses.
Attach the welded sheet metal to the tailer by bolting in strong hinges near the ends of the side of the sheet metal that is to be attached to the trailer. The hinges will be used to support the ramp against the trailer and will also be in place so you can fold the ramp into the trailer when you are not using it.
