Things You'll Need
- Supplies
- Screwdriver
- Light bulb
- Replacement plastic (if desired)
Instructions
Remove the plastic light cover. Typically you will need a screwdriver to perform this task, but some trailer light covers snap into place using tabs or clamps. If you do not see any kind of screw holding the plastic in place, it probably just snaps in and out and you should be able to gently squeeze and wiggle it until it comes loose.
Horse trailer light bulbs are more similar to vehicle light bulbs than to the traditional bulbs you have inside your house; the vast majority of bulbs are held in the socket by prongs--they do not need to be twisted in. Grasp the light bulb gently by the plastic or metal at its base and pull it straight out to remove it.
Determine what kind of replacement bulb you need. Hopefully, you will already have a replacement bulb on hand, but if you do not, you should be able to locate one by taking the bulb to your local auto parts store and finding a similar replacement.
Plug the new bulb into socket. You should line the prongs up with the socket and stick the bulb straight in.
Replace the plastic cover. If you are replacing the plastic as well, screw it or snap it back onto the trailer in place of the old plastic.
