Horse Camping Trips in New York

New York State offers equine campers a variety of locations to camp and hundreds of miles of trails to explore from the back of a horse.



State and national parks in New York contain numerous trail systems and horse riders will find a number of camping opportunities surrounding the trail systems. Riders can plan camping trips on any of these trails systems.
  1. Allegany State Park

    • Horse camping and trails at Allegany State Park are located in the town of Salamanca. Allegany State Park has more than 50 miles of trails and 12 horse campsites.

    Adirondack Park

    • Adirondack Park boasts a wide variety of horse campgrounds and hundreds of miles of trails composed into various trail systems. Trail systems include the Cold River Horse Trails, the Santononi Horse Trail, the Lake George Horse Trails, Luzerne Campground and Horse Trails, the Meacham Lake Horse Trails, the Saranac Inn Horse Trails, the Raquette Falls Horse Trail, the Pharaoh Lake Horse Trails, the Whippoorwill Corners Trails, Brasher Falls and the Otter Creek Horse Trail.

      Trails have multiple day trips and a wide assortment of camping accommodations.

    Brookfield Trail System

    • The Brookfield Trail System is part of the Brookfield Railroad State Forest. The trail system features campgrounds in several different locations and has 130 miles of trails.
