Obstacle Courses
-
Obstacle courses and trail courses are a mainstay of miniature horse competitions, and they can be leisure activities as well. The only limit to the obstacle course you create for your mini is your own imagination. Use available items, like tarps, wooden bridges and bales of hay, to create your own obstacle course, or purchase obstacles used by designers of miniature horse courses at local and regional shows. But no matter which items you choose, changing the course often and introducing new obstacles is the best way to keep your mini engaged and interested in the games you create.
Miniature Horse Soccer
-
Many miniature horses love to play with balls, and mini owners can set up their own games of soccer. All it takes is a large plastic ball like the kind sold at toy stores and the toy departments of major retailers. Horse owners can get the game started by kicking the ball across the arena and watching as their miniature horses join the game. If you have more than one mini, they will often play together, moving the ball around the enclosure and having a great time.
Jumping Course
-
Many miniature horses love to jump, and creating a jumping course can be an excellent game for you and your mini to play. Set up a few small jumps--about 12 inches is a good height. Place those jumps around the perimeter of the arena or ring, then place a few smaller jumps in the center of the arena. Allow your miniature horse to choose which jumps to play with--free jumping is popular with minis and their owners.

Miniature Horse Games to Play
Miniature horse owners might not be able to ride their animals, but they can still have a great time with their horses. There are a number of games and activities miniature horse owners can use to bond with their animals and teach them the skills they need to know. Some of these activities can be used to prepare for miniature horse shows, exhibitions and other events, while other activities can simply be used to have fun at home.
