What is the horse Comanche famous for?

Comanche is famous for being the only horse to survive the Battle of Little Bighorn, a major battle in the American Indian Wars where Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer and his troops were defeated by a coalition of Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors.

Comanche belonged to Captain Myles W. Keogh, who was killed in the battle. Despite being wounded multiple times, Comanche managed to escape the battlefield and was found alive several days later.

He was cared for by the military and became a symbol of the bravery and resilience of the soldiers who fought at Little Bighorn.
