Things You'll Need
- Wagon
- Harness equipment
- Halter and lead rope
- Brush
Instructions
Tie your pony to a secure place, in an open area.
Groom the pony to remove anything that could rub against his skin under the harness equipment.
Unclip the lead rope from the halter. Place the collar of the harness upside down and slip it over the pony's head. Turn it right side up and push it down to his chest so that it places the weight evenly on the pony's chest and shoulders. Clip the lead rope back to the halter.
Point the square flaps of the hames towards the tail and place the hames on top of the collar, making sure to tighten it well.
Sit the saddle and breeching in the center of the pony's back. Position the traces so that they are both pointing toward the rear of the pony.
Thread the reins through the guides on the saddle and attach the crupper under the pony's tail. Tighten the girth so that it is snug, but not extremely tight.
Put the bridle on the pony and attach the reins to the bit.
Pull the wagon to the pony or back the pony to the wagon, being careful not to tangle the reins or the traces.
Connect the traces to the wagon, and you are ready to go.
