Instructions
Select a name or a sound to designate as the official command for your horse to come forward. Equusite.com recommends using the horse's name or a whistling sound. Find the command that works for you.
Stand several yards away from the horse and shout out the command. Make sure that you have his attention, even if he doesn't move. You should also have some type of treat ready to give to your horse, such as a carrot.
Pause briefly, allowing your horse time to respond.
Step forward and then give the treat to your horse. Gently stroke her head as she eats it, and offer genuine love and affection. In time, the horse will make a positive association with the command word and will come to you, rather than you having to go to her.
Repeat the process for as long as it takes. As with any animal, training a horse requires patience and persistence.
