No Force
-
Using force when training can be a fatal flaw. Horses that bite and buck are often the same horses that have been abused.
Pack Animals
-
Horses are pack animals like dogs, and can be loyal. Like most animals that are naturally grouped, they can respect a leader and do not have to be fought with.
Early Training
-
Training your horse should begin at as young an age as possible. A horse may not be able to hold much weight yet, but the sooner the horse is used to a saddle and to taking commands, the better.
No Stress
-
Horses need to be relaxed during training. A horse that is agitated often learns slowly and is difficult to train.
Tone of Voice
-
Horses are very sensitive to the tone of a voice. A trainer should speak softly to horses during training. If a horse is spoken to soothingly throughout training, it often helps the horse to stay relaxed.
