Instructions
Look at the Herm Sprenger bit to identify how the bit should be attached to the bridle. For newer Herm Sprenger bits, check the cheekpiece of the bit for an arrow. The arrow should point forward, or toward the nose of the horse. An older Herm Sprenger bit may not have the arrow, so to make sure it's facing the proper direction, make sure the bit is in the shape of a curve, with the apex of the curve closest to the horse's nose.
Attach the Herm Sprenger bit to the bridle. Attach the reins to the bit.
Fit the bit to your horse by putting the bridle on and looking at the wrinkles in the corner of your horse's mouth. Ideally the horse should have two wrinkles in the corner of its mouth. If there is less, tighten the bridle. If there is more, loosen the bridle.
Clean the Herm Sprenger bit by rinsing it under warm water and using a soft brush to scrub away any debris.
