How to Make a Bubble Wall Mountable Fish Tank

Whether you want to upgrade your fish bowl into a wall mountable fish tank or want to practice your sealing skills, make a bubble wall mountable fish tank. A bubble fish tank hanging on the wall provides a nice accent to the décor of the room. Do not place the fish tank in direct sunlight or near a door, window or vent. Those areas change the temperature of the fish tank and are dangerous for fish.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill a 1/4-inch-hole 1-inch from the outer edge of the 1/4-inch cell-case circle, using a power drill and 1/4-inch acrylic drill bit. The hole is used to mount the bubble fish tank to the wall.

    • 2

Clean the acrylic circle and acrylic bowl to remove all dust and debris. Use aquarium cleaner and a soft cloth. Other detergents and soaps are potentially dangerous for the fish. Let the circle and bowl dry for 20 minutes.

    • 3

Drill a 3-inch hole on the side of the bowl, using a power drill and 3-inch drill bit. Position the hole 1-inch away from the outer lip. The hole is used to put water, the fish and gravel into the bubble fish tank.

    • 4

Place the flat, outer lip of the bowl along the edges of the acrylic circle. The 3-inch hole in the side of the bowl faces upward. The 1/4-inch hole in the circle should be accessible from the 3-inch-hole.

    • 5

Fill a syringe with a 25-gauge needle with solvent cement. Position the needle between the edges of the lip and circle. Squeeze the solvent between the lip and circle. The solvent should completely cover the surfaces where the lip and circle connect. Connect the edges of the bowl and circle, using electrical tape and let the solvent cement dry for four hours.

    • 6

Insert a layer of clear silicone caulk between the edges of the lip and circle, using a caulk gun. Let the caulk dry for 10 hours. Wait 48 hours before filling the tank with water.

Locate the wooden studs of your wall, using an electronic stud finder for dry wall. Drill a 1/4-inch-hole into the stud. Insert a plastic wall anchor into the pilot hole. Insert a screw through the hole in the circle and twist the screw into the wall, using a screwdriver. For cement walls, drill directly into the wall.
