Choosing an Aquarium
Find a fluorescent lighting system that has areas of strong and weaker lighting. When the clams are mostly brown, place them in lower light parts of the aquarium. When their color is brighter, keep them near the stronger light.
Find an aquarium that can maintain a water temperature of approximately 70*F.
Maintain a salinity level that is between 1.023 and 1.025.
Keep the aquarium's pH at 8.3 and never let it get above 8.4.
Attach the clams to rocks within the aquarium. Leave enough space for them to fully open their shells while they are on these rocks.
Make sure that your aquarium's hardness does not exceed a dkh or carbonate level of 7.9.
