Instructions

    • 1

Position the cabinet for the RENA Aqualife 350 aquarium on a level section of floor, away from drafts and full sun, which will encourage the growth of unwanted algae.

    • 2

Place the RENA Aqualife, four-foot long aquarium onto its cabinet.

    • 3

Add pre-washed aquarium gravel to the bottom of the aquarium, to a depth of approximately two inches. Slope the gravel toward the front to encourage dirt to work its way to this area, where it can be easily removed.

    • 4

Place two or three pieces of driftwood onto the gravel.

    • 5

Fill the aquarium with tap water. Pour the water gently onto the driftwood to prevent disturbing the gravel bed. Add nine teaspoons of chlorine remover to the water after the aquarium is full.

    • 6

Set the 500-micron solid silver contact thermostat on the RENA heater to 77 degrees Fahrenheit and place the heater in the aquarium. The RENA heater is completely submersible and you can mount the heater in either a horizontal or vertical position. Your RENA heater has a six-foot-long electrical cord, which allows you to position the heater at the bottom of the aquarium, if necessary.

    • 7

Place the RENA external power filter on the floor behind the cabinet. Place the intake and outlet pipes through the designated ports in the aquarium canopy. Place the biological, chemical and mechanical filter material into their designated plastic compartments within the filter's body. Place the mechanical filter material into the lowest container. Add the chemical filter material to the middle container and, finally, place the biological filter material in the top compartment. Your filter is self-priming, which eliminates the need for pumping.

    • 8

Place the four 38-Watt tubes into the designated fluorescent light holders in the aquarium canopy. Position the end pins of the first light into the fluorescent tube holder on one side of the canopy and then carefully align and push the opposite end of the light into the fluorescent tube holder on the opposite end of the canopy. Repeat for each fluorescent tube.

    • 9

Plug the heater, external filter and lights into a wall power source and turn on the plug at the wall.

    • 10

Remove the elastic bands from the neck of the plastic bag in which your fish arrived. Place the bag into the aquarium and secure it with a plastic peg to the rim of the aquarium. Add five tablespoons of aquarium water to the plastic bag every quarter of an hour and release the fish into the aquarium after 60 minutes.

    • 11

      Close the aquarium canopy.

    • 12

Lift the feeding flap on the aquarium canopy to feed your fish.
