How to Oxygenate Liquid

Fish need oxygen, just as we do, so the water in an aquarium must be oxygenated to allow them to breathe through their gills. An easy-to-install air pump or air stone that can be bought at a pet store are all you need to oxygenate water or any other liquid. An air stone is a device connected to an air pump that disperses tiny oxygen bubbles into liquid. Oxygenated liquids can also be used by humans.

Instructions

  1. Air Pump

    • 1

Pour at least three inches of liquid into a container.

    • 2

Submerge the air tube in the liquid and place it on the bottom of the container.

    • 3

Plug the air tube into an electrical outlet. After 30 minutes, one gallon of water is oxygenated. For denser liquids, more time is needed to oxygenate it. For example, it takes about one hour to oxygenate one gallon of orange juice.
