How to Attach a Tunze Magnet to Glass

A Tunze magnet is used as a universal holder for pumps and other items inside of aquariums. It has a very strong holding power and can be attached to any aquarium pane. The Tunze magnet consists of two magnetic halves in a waterproof housing. The inside unit of the Tunze magnet can be placed in the water and the external unit gets attached to the outside of the aquarium. Because of their encapsulated construction, the Tunze magnet is resistant to corrosion, and will have no harmful effects on the habitat inside the aquarium.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the two magnets far away from each other. These magnets are strong and hard to separate once attached to each other.

    • 2

Remove the elastic buffers from the film that they are packaged in. The buffers are small round pieces of plastic with an adhesive backing.

    • 3

Press the elastic buffers onto the spots provided for this purpose, adhesive side pressed against the plastic. The locations for the buffers are the small round pads on the bottom of each magnet holder. There are four buffers for each magnet holder.

    • 4

Attach the pump or other item that you wish to be held by the magnet to one of the magnet cases. You can use the included Velcro bands, adhesive or hook and strip for this purpose. Press this magnet against the inside wall of the aquarium in the location desired.

Press the other magnet holder on the opposite side of the glass as the inside magnet. The two magnets are now attached to the glass by virtue of their mutual attraction to each other. The inside magnet can be moved around the aquarium by moving the outside magnet.
