How to Feed Baby Crawdads

Crawdads are also known as crayfish, and they resemble small lobsters. These miniature crustaceans are hardy pets and they are easy to breed. In the wild, crawdads eat small bits of food and decomposing matter that they find in the sand and on the water. In captivity, they can get by with a steady, unchanging diet. Feeding baby crawdads well is the first step towards raising healthy adults.

Separate the baby crawdads so that there are only 20 in each tank. Crowded conditions leads to cannibalism and vicious competition for food.

Crumple up a small amount of fish flakes between your fingers.

    • 3

Add pinches of the crumpled fish flakes to the tank. The baby crawdads will eat the flakes at they fall.
