Instructions for Tetra Filter Cartridges

No matter how long you owned and operated your aquarium, algae and other bacteria can accumulate in your tank if not maintained regularly. Tetra filters siphon out harmful particles and bacteria to keep the water in your tank clean to maintain healthy fish. Tetra filter cartridges, ranging in sizes from small to extra large, are inserted into the filter canister to block ammonia and nitrates from reentering the tank. Changing the Tetra filter cartridge after a bacterial outbreak or murky water will help maintain your aquarium and keep your fish healthy.

Hang the Tetra filter canister on the edge of the aquarium. Position the canister near the back of the tank to ensure it doesn't block the aquarium lid from closing properly. Push the suction cups on the back of the canister against the glass to prevent the canister from moving in the water.

Insert a Tetra filter cartridge into the slot on the top of the Tetra filter canister. Slide the filter cartridge behind the bacteria sponge in the canister. The bacteria sponge is a black permanent sponge filter and is never replaced, but needs to be washed with warm water every time you change the tetra filter cartridge.
