Instructions
Test the electrical outlet that the 304 is plugged into with a device you know works. If the device does not power on, go to your breaker box and reset the tripped breaker by switching it to the "On" setting.
Run your fingers up and down the electrical cord coming out of the Fluval 304. Make sure there are no frays or breaks in the cord. If you find any breaks in the electrical cord, have the unit replaced.
Plug the 304 into the electrical outlet and turn it on via the "Power" button. Listen for the motor to start. If you hear the motor running, but the unit is not filtering, make sure there are no kinks in the output tube.
Straighten out the output tube and use your fingers to clear any clogs in it.
My Fluval 304 Won't Start
The Fluval 304 is an aquarium filter from Hagen Inc. The 304 gives the aquarium a good flow rate to keep the water fresh and clean for the fish. If you are having problems with your Fluval powering on, there are several things that you can do before you send it off to get repaired or buy a new unit. You don't have to be a Fluval technician to diagnose the problem; you can do it yourself with little hassle.
