Instructions
Locate the inline airflow valve on the protein skimmer. It is located on the seven-inch air tube, in front of the air pump on the side opposite the electrical cord. It rises vertically from the air tube and is roughly a half-inch long.
Turn the air valve adjuster, which appears as a raised line inside a tubular valve, to increase or decrease the amount of air passing through the air tubing. If you turn it so the line is perpendicular to the air tubing, it closes the passage of air. If you turn it so the line is parallel to the tubing, it creates maximum airflow.
Turn the valve until the amount of airflow is ideal. The air is flowing properly when it causes foam to rise slightly above the rim of the reaction chamber, going just up over the rim of the reaction chamber, not all the way into the collection cup.
Maintain your protein skimmer properly for optimal functioning. If and when the collection cup fills, empty out this organic material and rinse the cup. Clean your tank and check your water parameters regularly to prevent the excessive buildup of harmful organic matter.
How to Adjust the Oceanic Biocube Protein Skimmer
The Oceanic Biocube Protein skimmer is a piece of equipment used to remove protein and harmful organic compounds from Biocube 14 and Biocube 29 saltwater aquariums. After installation, the Oceanic Biocube Protein skimmer is relatively easy to operate. However, it may be necessary to adjust the rate of airflow from the skimmer on occasion.
