How to Remove Algae Growth in Water Containers

However, it can quickly appear in water containers, which is unsightly and unappetizing. Algae grow best when it has ample amounts of waste and sunlight to feed on.

      Empty the water container. Rinse the container with bleach, hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar to kill the algae spores. For extreme cases, you may consider using an algaecide.

      Scrub the sides of the jar with an algae pad designed for the type of container it is; many are made for plastic or glass. They can be found at most pet stores and are commonly used for fish tanks. A bottle brush is another effective method for scrubbing out algae from a water container.
