Instructions

    • 1

Measure the size of the space you want to place your aquarium in to determine the dimensions of your aquarium. You will need the height, width and depth measurements.

    • 2

Determine the shape of your aquarium. While square and rectangular aquariums are the simplest designs to build, it may make more sense to build an aquarium to fit into a corner or have a more rounded design.

    • 3

Place the bottom pane of glass on a flat surface. Lay the side, front and back pieces into place alongside the bottom pane to resemble a flattened box.

    • 4

Cut 16 equal lengths of masking tape and place them within easy reach to hold the glass pieces in place. Place two strips on each side of the bottom pane, leaving about half of the strip exposed. This will be used to tape the bottom of the aquarium to the sides during curing.

    • 5

Run a bead of caulk along the front edge of the bottom pane of glass. Gently, but firmly lift the front pane in place and press it against the bottom pane, pressing it against the bead of caulk. Run a secondary bead along the inside joint and then pull the strips of masking tape up and stick it to the glass. Repeat the process for each of the sides and then allow the silicone to cure.

      Cut away the excess silicone.
