How to Use a Therma-Temp Full Range Digital Thermometer

Therma-Temp full-range digital thermometers were designed for use with fish aquariums to accurately perform what is termed a "through-glass" reading of the water temperature within the aquarium. The thermometer offers the full range of various temperatures so that the instrument can be used with both cold-water and tropical fish aquarium systems, able to provide the temperature in both Fahrenheit as well as Centigrade. The thermometer must be mounted correctly for the most accurate water temperature readings.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a location in which to attach your Therma-Temp digital thermometer to your aquarium. The location should be on the front size of the aquarium glass, preferably along one of the side edges so that your viewing of your pets won't be needlessly obstructed.

    • 2

Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a soft lint-free cloth, just enough to dampen the cloth without fully saturating it. Gently apply the alcohol to the glass where you will be applying the thermometer. After several seconds of cleaning, allow the glass surface to dry for a minute or two and do not touch the area with fingers to prevent skin oils from re-contaminating the glass.

    • 3

Remove your Therma-Temp digital thermometer from its packaging and peel off the cellophane adhesive protector from the back of the thermometer. Don't remove any of the adhesive strip, only the thin cellophane paper.

    • 4

Use two hands to line up the thermometer so it is level and straight up and down vertically. Keep the thermometer level vertically and slowly press it against the outside of the aquarium glass which you previously cleaned. Gently press the entire thermometer against the glass for a good, strong, adhesion of the device.

    • 5

Activate the thermometer and allow about one to two hours for the device to acquire an accurate through-glass reading of your aquarium's water temperature, and then adjust according to the digital readings the device provides.
