How to Use Charcoal in Saltwater Fish Tanks

There are many different types of filtration devices that can be used to filter saltwater fish tanks. One popular system uses activated charcoal to absorb chemicals and other pollutants from the aquarium water. The charcoal is then placed into a filtration container called a canister filter. In order for charcoal to be most effective in a salt water aquarium, it must be crushed into very small pieces. Pre-crushed, activated charcoal can be purchased at any pet store or aquarium supply store.
