Instructions

    • 1

Purchase some epoxy resin at a hardware or home improvement store. Epoxy resin creates a stable waterproof seal.

    • 2

Empty the tank of all fish, water and decorations. Do not leave any sand or rocks along the bottom. Scrape off any algae buildup and thoroughly wash the tank with hot water. Dry with a cotton towel.

    • 3

Set and reinforce the glass. If the crack has spread, push the pieces together and seal it with tape on one side. If the crack is along one of the corner seams, tape the entire seam.

    • 4

Apply a thin strip of epoxy along the untaped side of the crack. The strip needs to be thick enough to cover the crack, but avoid creating a new ridge in the glass. Use a small plastic putty knife or other flat tool to smooth out the epoxy bead.

    • 5

Wipe off excess epoxy with a wet towel. If the crack goes all the way through the glass you will need to repeat the process on the other side of the glass. Wait an hour for the first epoxy to cure and remove tape. Put a bead of epoxy on the opposite side of the glass in the same manner as above.

Wait the manufacture's recommended drying time before reassembling your aquarium.
