Caring for Anemones
Using the filter floss or the PVC grills, cover the pump intake and the overflow of your aquarium.
Find a sandy bottom. Most anemones prefer a clear spot to rest. Make sure that the spot you choose does not have too much water flow and has access to adequate lighting.
Feed your anemone. There is a misconception that anemones do not need food.
Check your water parameters. Like most animals in your tank, anemones enjoy a certain range of water conditions. This depends on what type of anemone you have and from where it originates.
Use plastic ties to secure them in place. This will prevent the anemone from getting sucked into any unwanted places. This equipment should be removed and cleaned during your regular scheduled maintenance.
Taking these steps will provide the best chance of your anemone staying put. However, your anemone may prefer a different location and decide to move.
According to Liveaquaria.com, anemones enjoy a diet of fish, shrimp, mussels and other foods of this type.
Regular feeding will help maintain the color and health of your anemone.
Most Caribbean anemones will be happy with the following conditions:
Temperature: 72-78° F
PH: 8.1-8.4,
Specific Gravity: 1.023-1.025.
Ammonia: Undetectable
Nitrites: Undetectable
Check your water on a regular basis to make sure these parameters are met.
A happy and healthy anemone will fully extend its tentacles and stretch out.
