Gather Your Materials
-
For this you will need project you will need a 36-watt True Actinic 03 Blue straight pin replacement bulb, 36-watt 10,000K Daylight straight pin replacement bulb and a Phillip's head screwdriver.
Remove the Hood
-
Unplug your tank, when you are working with any of the key elements of your tank, i.e. lighting, pumps, etc. Next lift the hood of your tank to the open position; you will notice at the bottom that the hood hinges and snaps onto to tank. Using both hands, grab the corners of the hood and pull the hood toward you.
This usually takes some effort. Don't be afraid that you will break the hood; it should detach smoothly and not damage any part of the tank.
Remove the Protective Cover and the Old Bulbs
-
Using your Phillip's head screwdriver remove all of the screws that hold on the cover. If this is the first time you have done this, the screws maybe a little difficult to remove. Once all of the screws are removed the cover should pull right off, and you're ready to tackle the bulbs. Grab the bulbs near the top ends and pull them in an outward motion toward you. The bulbs should "fold out" of their sockets. Once the bulbs are removed clean any salt or residue that has built up with a clean wash cloth or paper towel. After everything is clean you are ready to install the new bulbs.
Finishing Up
-
The new bulbs should "fold" into place much like the old bulbs folded out. This step is pretty easy, just make sure you line up the markings on the lights with the markings on the hood. Also make sure that you place the correct corresponding light in it's socket (white into white) (blue into blue). After this is complete set the cover back on and secure it back onto the hood. You are now ready to attach the hood back to the tank. To do this simply reverse the process in step two. Instead of applying pressure towards you on the bottom corners of the hood, you are going to apply pressure away from you. The hood should snap back on smoothly. After the hood is in place plug everything back in and close the hood.

Biocube Aquarium Lighting Troubleshooting
The Biocube is manufactured by Oceanic Systems, and it is probably one of the most innovative aquarium systems on the market. It is rare that problems occur with the light fixtures themselves, and maintenance usually consists of changing out the two major bulbs at least once every six months.
