How to Keep Clownfish in a Nano Cube

A nano cube is a type of saltwater aquarium that uses technology to make the setup and upkeep of saltwater fish easy. Nano cube aquariums are typically less than 30 gallons and are cube-shaped. Clownfish are commonly referred to by kids as "Nemo fish." The popular family movie, "Finding Nemo," starred clownfish and sprung the fish into popularity in home aquariums. Clownfish are small orange-and-white fish that live in sea anemones. You can set up a nano tank with clownfish and anemones to make a beautiful addition to your home.

Instructions

  1. Keep Clownfish in a Nano Cube Tank

    • 1

Assemble a complete nano cube tank. It is easiest to buy an all-inclusive one to help you get started. This is what it should include: filter system, heater, protein skimmer, UV sterlizer, LED lights, cooling fans, water pump and a chemical filtration system.

You may get a tank without these items, but then you must find them separately.

    • 2

Fill the tank with water and aquarium sea salt. You can find the sea salt at a pet store. Determine how much to add by checking the packaging, as it will depend on the size of your tank.

    • 3

Pour a layer of coral sand into the tank. Add live coral, rocks and a sea anemone.

    • 4

Allow the tank to run for several days to let it regulate before stocking it with clownfish.

    • 5

Add your clownfish. You can have two fish per 10-gallon tank. There are several varieties of clownfish that can grow to different sizes. It is best to get fish of the same variety so they do not fight or try to eat each other.
