How to Fix Scratches in Tank Plastic

A fish tank can add beauty, style and a tranquil feeling to any home or office. Unfortunately, the aesthetic beauty of your tank can be ruined if it becomes scratched. Scratches on a plastic tank can accumulate quickly and easily. Sometimes the scratches will be fine and hard to see. Others will be deep and an eyesore in general. Thankfully, with some plastic polish, a few cloths and some elbow grease, you can have your plastic tank looking scratch free in no time.

Things You'll Need

  • Novus #3 Heavy Scratch Remover
  • Novus #2 Fine Scratch Remover
  • 3 Hand towels

Instructions

    • 1

      Remove fish and tank decorations and clean your tank the way your normally would.

      Squirt a generous amount of Novus #3 onto your hand towel.

      Scrub the scratches on your tank with your hand towel. Use a left-to-right and back-and-forth motion when doing so.

      Wipe away any excess polish with a clean hand towel when the scratches become very fine.

      Squirt a generous amount of Novus #2 onto a clean hand towel.

      Apply to the remaining portion of the scratches. Apply the product in a circular motion. This will remove the remainder of the scratches.

      Wipe down the area with your clean hand towel. Refill your tank the way you normally would.
