How to Catch Fish in Your Fish Tank

If you own an aquarium full of fish, you know that it must be cleaned out at least once every two weeks. This will keep your tank clean and your fish healthy. When you are ready to clean your tank, you will need to remove your fish. You should take some of the water out and place it in a glass bowl. Then you must catch your fish with a net and place them in the bowl until the tank is clean and ready for them to go back in it.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a glass bowl with some of the water from the fish tank. This is necessary so that the fish doesn't go in to shock from being placed into water that it is not the right temperature.

    • 2

Turn off all of the lights to the aquarium and make it as dark as possible.

    • 3

Wait about five minutes and then quickly turn the lights back on. This will confuse the fish. You can now swoop down with your fish net and catch the fish. Place them in the glass bowl.

Hold your fish net with one hand at one end of the tank. Wait a minute and then stick your other hand at the other end of the tank. This will scare the fish in to the direction of your net. Scoop the fish up and place them in your glass bowl.

Place your empty soda bottle on its side and cut an opening in the top of it. Place a piece of food inside of it and lay it in the aquarium. Wait for the fish to swim into the soda bottle and then quickly lift it out before the fish can swim back out.
