Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- 1/4" Annealed glass
- Glass cutter
- Straight edge
- Duct tape
- Scissors
- Silicone sealant
- Acetone
Instructions
Design your tank. Measure the length that you want for each side. If you are doing a basic square or rectangle tank you will have five sides.
Score the pieces of glass with a glass cutter using a straight edge. Then apply even pressure to the glass to break it. Do this until you have all five aquarium pieces.
Cut pieces of duct tape, 2 for each angle that you will putting together. (This will hold the glass in place while it dries.) Attach the duct tape to the bottom piece of the tank. Allow edges to fold up to attach to the sides of the tank.
Apply silicone sealant to the edge of one the bottom piece of glass. Push the side piece down into the silicone at a slight angle and then pull it back to a 90 degree angle. Tape the duct tape onto the side. Repeat with the remaining 3 sides of the tank.
Apply a think layer of silicone sealant to the inside seams of the aquarium tank. Smooth the sealant in so that it fully seals all of the joints.
Allow it to dry and cure for at least 24 hours.
Remove the duct tape and clean it with acetone. Add water to the tank.
