Set the stand up somewhere away from direct sunlight. Place the aquarium on top of the stand. Clean any debris from inside the tank and the glass so you can have a clear view of the fish.

    • 2

Deposit gravel into the aquarium. Now add the water slowly. Measure the appropriate amount of water conditioner to the tank.

    • 3

Install the filter on the tank. Place the heater near the inward flow of your filter. It should be completely submerged under the water.

    • 4

Plug in the filter. Wait one day before adding fish to your aquarium so the water in the tank can stabilize.

    • 5

Add optional decorations prior to adding your fish. Make sure they have been rinsed clean. Install only a few pieces to allow plenty of room for the fish to swim around freely.

    • 6

Test your water after a few weeks, and then add more fish.
